The new corporate design of the Swedish car manufacturer has arrived in Austria: the certified Volvo sales partner Aiginger near Amstetten has implemented the Scandinavian specifications perfectly in the refurbishment of its car dealership. At the centre of the extensive work was the floor, which dominates the modern appearance of the showroom with its large, grey panels. Maxi Bau took on the demanding installation with solvent-free system solutions from Murexin.

Flexible system solution
The demands placed on the materials used to lay the floor in a car dealership are enormous: mechanical and thermal loads act on the floor. “When choosing the system, a high degree of flexibility had to be ensured in order to avoid damage,” explains Jürgen Becker (Product Manager Tiling System, Murexin GmbH).

Special challenge
Becker: “The sunlight through the large glass frontages causes enormous temperature fluctuations, which create tensions in the floor. A flexible adhesive mortar is a must for this field of application.” The deformable SFS 2 (S 2) is highly tempered, very low-emission and hydraulically setting. “Its high level of comfort during execution is noticeable for the fabricator, because the flexible mortar combines very good processing properties with outstanding functions in the hardened state. It can be corrected in an optimal time window and the covering is ready for grouting after about 12 hours”, Becker continues.

Ecology at the forefront
In total, 75 x 75 cm fine stoneware tiles in light grey were laid on around 650 m². An area of around 40 m² was reserved in the showroom for meetings, which is optically separated from the display area by a parquet floor. They were given a facelift so that the walls and ceiling would also match the new appearance. Modern, low-emission and solvent-free products with outstanding processing properties were used in the project. A large number of the building materials are certified according to GEV EMICODE©EC1PLUSR or have been awarded the Austrian Environmental Label.
